When a child is seriously ill, it changes the life of an entire family.
The days are filled with hospital visits, treatments, medication and care. Everything revolves around what is needed to help a child as best as possible. But precisely within that world, something deeply important becomes visible.
A child is more than their illness.
Every child wants to be able to laugh, experience music, be outdoors, play, discover, enjoy small moments and feel safe. Even when a cure is no longer possible or life is continuously limited by illness.
That is why Kinderhospice ZonnaCare offers a place where specialist paediatric nursing care comes together with warmth, attention and experience. A place where children can enjoy themselves without worry, giving parents the chance to catch their breath.
But not everything needed for this is covered by regular healthcare funding.
It is precisely the facilities that make a stay safe, comfortable and special that often fall outside regular funding. Think of an adapted wheelchair bus, a sensory garden, a warm and homely interior, innovative aids, or other facilities that contribute to the quality of life of children and their families.
That is why Stichting ZonnaCare was founded.
Caring for a child is about so much more than care alone.
What we do
The foundation supports Kinderhospice ZonnaCare in realising these special facilities and projects. Thanks to the involvement of donors, businesses, funds and volunteers, dreams can become reality and possibilities arise that would otherwise remain out of reach.

Transport
The foundation funds a specially adapted bus with medical and wheelchair facilities, with support present during every journey.
Your contribution
Both financial contributions and donations in kind go entirely towards the comfort, wellbeing and enjoyment of children with intensive care needs.
Every child deserves a place where beautiful moments are made. Where there is room for music, for a smile, and for a moment without worries. That is what Stichting ZonnaCare dedicates itself to, every single day. Together, we make the difference.
Who we are
From the belief that all people have the same rights and are equal, comes our commitment to those who are ill or living with a disability. Stichting ZonnaCare consists of unpaid board members who are dedicated to the lives of children with intensive care needs and their parents/carers.
The foundation was established on 8 November 2010. Until 23 January 2013, Stichting ZonnaCare was known under the name Stichting SOUL (Stichting Ontspannen Uit Logeren voor zorgintensieve kinderen, meaning “Foundation for Relaxed Respite Stays for Children with Intensive Care Needs”).
